Try this:

Load all your tracks into your software. Now, before you put anything on the tracks, just adjust the faders and panning to make sure everything is balanced. Listen to the mix a couple of times like that. Then go in and fix anything that stands out as bad. You'll be amazed that if you tracked it right, just how little you have to do to get a good solid mix without a myriad of effects on the tracks.

It is a seperate science in itself. I recommend starting with something like Ozone 3, it's very good.

Your reverb problem could be down to a lack of compression on the vocal track.

Enter the dark world of MASTERING by going through the portal to a MASTERing engineer and going from there.
HEAPS of folk use mastering software but heaps of folk end up with faux mastering. There are a few on these forums who actually get a really good final master at home but that's less than a handful.
I do faux mastering (just using a limiter really) for the tracks of mine I play on CD, or demo copies, but I have my mix archives stored (on three different media DC, External drive and DVD) and waiting for the day I've saved up enough to get them done properly.

I thought the problem with his mix was that he was accidentally listening to it through WMP with WMP's reverb turned on, and that it was all fixed now?
