Check out Just Plain Folks ...They have local chapters and an on-line community...I think the LA Chapter is pretty active...Orange County has there own chapter as well..open mics and such...ya know?

There used to be an organization called The LA Songwriters Showcase (I was a member for awhile). It was run by John Breheny and Len Chandler. Might be worth a try.
