Looping drum samples

Hi,

I'm trying to use Fruity Loops and Leafdrums but can't seem to get the short tracks I make to loop correctly. I am able to import the wav into N-track, and using the cut/paste operation while holding down shift, I can paste the sample as many times as I like--and it's hooking up to the preceding sample properly according to the little "link" symbol that appears. However, during playback, the sample doesn't repeat in time the way it does in fruityloops, for example. The end of each sample seems truncated; or, rather, the immediatly following sample seems to start too soon, so the rhythm is messed up.

If anyone can offer more detailed instructions for creating a drum track like this, I'll be forever in your debt!

Thanks guys
(this is the best BBS I've ever been involved with)

I've had the same problem. The easiest work-around is just to use two tracks so that the parts are staggered. For example, if the song section is comprised of four wav files, track one would have wavs 1 and 3, while track 2 would have wavs 2 and 4. You'll have to listen carefully to make sure that the parts are spaced properly so that there are no gaps or early starts, but if you zoom in you can move the wavs with precision until you get it all to fit together. The end result is that the wavs play in order in the same way as if they were all lined up one after another in the same track. It's a bit of a pain at first, but this is how I've done every song in n-track (I import wavs from FL too).

Great explanation; I'll give it a try right away.

Thanks, bro.
