I dont have a midi controller i was looking into getting one though. But at the same time im sorta clueless on how to use a midi controller in the long run. I was also considering Mixcraft 6
Well Mixcraft has a bunch of "Virtual Instruments" on it. If you have a midi controller (I would suggest a keyboard even if you don't know how to play piano) you can add just about any instrument you can think of. For example I had a song with an Island sound so opted to put steel drums on it. Which I did with the midi controller. I didn't much care for it so I changed the instrument to an Irish Whistle. I didn't have to re-record it It changed what I already had and it sounded great. You name it you can put it on your recording, Bag pipes, guitar, strings, string quartets, orchestras, french horns, bass guitar, drums of multiple types. A midi controller opens a huge door for creativity in your recording. By the way you should be able to upgrade to mixcraft 6 for $20. That's what I did. They also have some relatively cheap virtual instruments you can add to what comes standard as well. When you add drums it sound analog and not digital because you are the one hitting the key to make the drum beat. If you are using a drum kit virtual instrument you can put in snare, bass drum, hi hats, cymbals and on and on.
