Looking to mix some beats!

I have been working with fruity loops studio for awhile and cannot mix the beats taht i feel are right... i have an oxygen 8 midi controller but wnat more varity...i have a real nice studio set up..but i am lacking in the hip-hop sector taht i need...can someone give me some more insight..
 
Experience, knowledge, creativity, music theory, and knowing how to mesh them all to produce what it is you want to hear.

Practice, patience, drive, and a never ending quest to learn all the things above.

There's a million ways to get to where you want to be on a sound... You've just got to pick a path and follow it through. Get crazy and create somethin new.

A better controller might serve you better, and electronics are to a musician as brushes and different paints are to a painter. But without the afore mentioned you might as well be painting houses and forget the masterpieces.

Tools suggested are wide and varied. An MPC, different modules/synths/ sample libraries, etc.... That all depends on you.

I guess i am asking the wrong question... i am trying to say that i am looking for a more expandable, program with more options. The creativity and theory is there, i have beeen a musician for years but i do not know whether to go with a software based synth program, or just move into a digital synth workstation eg. triton systems.

i have not had any experience in hip hop and i don't know what that is...lol...i am wanting to expand my studio in to some hip hop rap production and am not sure how too
