Looking to improove my studio your views plz.

Well hi all havent been on for a while.
My old setup is this:

m-audio firewire 410 audio interface
Eurorack ub1204fx pro mixer
E-MU PM5 monitors
M-audio Oxygen 8 keyboard
Marshal guitar amp.

I have planned out to get all this new stuff and sell some of the old kit.

1.Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro mixer
2.Patchbay behringer
3.ROLAND JUNO-D (i need more ideas for keyboard options)
4.Sure sm57 mic
5.Better Headphone (dont no what yet)

Setting it all up is goining to be difficult and cableing. Rack grat i eill need, an expander maybe +others but not straight away.

What do you guys think im sure there are better options for keyboard. I love to create dance music with guitar, strange musis. I use pro tools and reason and i have absynth softsynth.

what do you need a mixer for? what kinda marshall amp?

stick with plugins. you dont need an expander, PT comes with one.
 
I need a mixer for guiatr bass vocals keyboard and to control softsynths and effects. And i need a mixer if i am goin to any further with my recording at home and i am working as an engineer as well as doing a degree in music technology.

Then maybe you need a real MIXER! If you're serious, and are going to mix tracks from software on your computer to a two-track thingy, then you ought to be looking at something in the realm of 24 or 32x8 bus boards. That's what it sounds like you're driving at.

Otherwise, you're not being real clear here. What is you scenario, and what exactly are you doing? Soundcraft has a new little mixer out which looks nice, and there are lots of other options out there. Mackie is fine- most things will be better than a Behringer. Looked at the Phonic stuff? Those have Firewire interfacing for recording into your computer right off the mixer's channels.

If you want to control softsynths, or pug-ins in your computer, you'll need another kind of controller. Mixers won't control software, generally.
 
for keyboards, I have a M-Audio 49 key keyboard, but I'm also was looking to upgrade.... I'm assuming you run pro tools m-powered per your firewire 410...If that's the case, and you just want a mixer for use with pro tools while also running your computer, you should check out the m-audio ProjectMix IO. It goes for $1000 new on eBay, and it would give you automated faders, transport controls, 8 inputs (XLR/quarter inch), etc...it's basically a copy of digi's 002 with very few changes.

As far as a keyboard goes, I just picked up a 49 key emu xboard for a little over $150 at guitar center. The keys feel a bazillion times better than the cheap m-audio's in my opinion, it has aftertouch, comes with some useable software, and has a slew of good-enough quality controls. For a few bucks more you can get the 61 key version if that's your cup of tea.

i think theres a lot more than that to it, especially at half the price!

but i considered getting it, i went with the digi002r instead, with a behringer BCF controller. i would rather have the LE and the 002. its just the name, but i have more confidence in my abilities (what ability..) and i figured it would be more impressive sounding.
