Hey,

need some help?

looking to buy my first audio interface
for a dell inspiron 6000 PC with 1.0 GB of RAM and 1.8Ghz,
was looking at tascam us-122mk2 or m-audio fast track pro,
how do i know if they are compatible with my system?

KPKELLY:confused:

I wasn't trying to be jerk. :o

I don't have to try, it's a gift. :)

KP try doing a search here for "audio interface". There's a zillion and except for minor glitches, they all work with a computer like yours.

If you go on the manufacturer's site for any interface you're looking at, they'll have a list of "system requirements" that will tell you what the interface needs to run. Your computer will most likely be fine with any but you will probably find that having only 1 GB RAM is minimal, and you might want to get a chip to boost that at some point.

I hear more wrong with tascam than any other manufacturer outside behringer...but thats not really being objective...I have m audio and line 6 interfaces, no problems with either

If I was buying a specific piece of gear, I'd probably post my computer's specs and in the appropriate forum here and ask if anybody was using it or had any problems.

Sometimes the product is fine but the customer service is bad, stuff like that.

I buy used when I can, and would tend not to go with a specific brand but try and find a good deal on Craigslist if possible.
