Hello,

I have been doing some home recording on the side for a couple of years now, but I have just recently started using computers. I have recorded on them before but I am now experimenting with ways to use them as an instrument (vsts...etc). I am hoping I can get some feedback on a song or two...what I could do better...what I should keep doing...etc. The website is www.purevolume.com/ryanmatthew . I would suggest getting the song From Mecca To Medina as the other two are just sketches for the most part. I did everything on my own- please bear with me on the vocals!

I'd appreciate any comments.

Listened to 'Mecca to Medina'. Like the opening, nice chilled out riff which works really well. Dont know about that drum that comes in with the 5 fast short beats when they lyrics come in.. doesnt sound right being a snare. It sounds really busy later on, think you need to clean them up a bit, get a bit more bass in there and a bit more treble. I thik everything is just pushed into the middle freq.

I like the ideas man, definately a good track. Just try and clean it up a bit, and i would definately say its a winner :)

Good luck man!

Peace

Hey thanks for the response! I agree...it does sound like everything is kinda mushed together and hoovering in mid frequencies. I need to learn more about EQing properly. I also have a habit of stuffing too much into songs, which is probably appearent.

thanks again.

Nothing wrong with that, i love songs with alot in. Nice to pick different bits out of a song each time you listen to it. You just need to work out how to fit it all in without it sounding muddy and unclear. Its just practice i guess, i do the same, but im still at the early stages yet :)

That's true...I need to focus on placing things creatively and clearly in the mix. Any other ideas, anyone?
