Looking For Recording Software...Any Ideas?

Hey guys, how's it going. I'm currently getting set up to work on a new CD...and I'm looking for recording software that will work well with a M-Audio Quattro/Omni external soundcard setup. I want something that works with ASIO drivers, and has the ability to record at 24 bit/96 k quality. The key is that I can't spend a ton right now (i.e., Cubase SX). Any ideas, anyone? Thanks for any help you can give me on this!

I've never used it, but a lot of people here like N-tracks and it's only $50.00. Other options would be Cakewalk Home Studio or Guitar Tracks Pro and PG Music's Power Tracks Pro.

I'm pretty sure the lower-end Cakewalk software does not support ASIO.

Hmmmmmm...

Home Studio II certainly does. I'm not sure about Guitar Tracks. You might be right about it.

No, I was right- Guitar Tracks Pro supports ASIO.

P.S. By the way, I got Home Studio XL (Cakewalk) last year...and lo and behold, it doesn't support ASIO.

As has been mentioned n-Track is a hellofa program for some small coin .... $45 for the 16 bit version and $69 for the 24 bit version. ASIO, WDM, MME, VTS/DX, VSTi/DXi and Rewire support. Download the trial and give it a spin. The current stable version is 3.3 ... 4.0 is up, but it is still in BETA. If you want to help debug 4.0 grab up on it too. Any specific questions can be answered by many of the knowledgeable folks at the FASoft Forum .
 
I'm going to go waaaay out on a limb here and do something that I've almost never (well, hardly ever) done before and recommend that you download the free demo version of Tracktion...

It's capable of ASIO 24 bit recording and will set you back a big $80 if you like it.
