I'm looking for a multi-pattern tube mic with a sweet high end, to compliment my other main vocal mic, which is a Michael Joly modded MK319.

I'm considering the following:
M Audio Sputnik
Studio projects T3

But I'm not sure if either of those mics is pristine enough quality. The signal from the 319 is very lush - not a hint of abrasiveness or harmonic distortion to my ears, so I'd like another mic in the same bracket, but the opposite to dark.

I would also like this mic to be able to take on some instrumental duties - acoustic guitar, orchestral (omni), mid-side recordings (fig 8).

...IMHO, you actually chose two of the best options in that price range...a used T3 would probably be the most cost effective ($250-300)...upgrade the tube with a NOS 6072 for best results...

...another great option (even cleaner/more pristine) but harder to find is a used MXL V77...excellent sounding, very neutral and clean sounding tube mic...NOS 6072 also applies here...
