Looking for good priced 2x12 cab with Vintage 30's... help..

Looking for a 2x12 vintage 30 cab to replace my Marshall 4x12 cab that I have. I no longer want to lug a 4x12 cab around, and would like to have either one 2x12 or maybe 2 of them (easier still than having one 4x12)
I know Marshall and Mesa both make one, but does anyone know of another manufacturer than makes a reall nice sounding Vintage 30 2x12 cab at a better price?
Anything I may want to consider over the Vintage 30's?

One of my favorite setups was a 2X12 Fender Bassman cab with Vintage 30's I loaded in..I used a Mesa MarkIII heads and sometimes the Bassman head..This cab had a really live sound{Resonated nicely}..I tried a Marshall 1936 cab{2X12} and it never had as good a tone..YMMV

i researched this quite a bit in the recent past and the best buy will be the carvin legacy 2x12. v30 loaded and really highly recommended. 325.00 plus 20.00 shipping.

I just got rid of a 1/2 stack 50 watt Marshall myself..Smaller is better sometimes LOL..Good luck

I also got fed up of lugging a 4X12 Marshall around! Seems like there are a lot of us out there.

I was sooo fed up that I bought the smallest 2X12 I could find. It's the Carvin Legacy with the Vintage 30's. It's a small tight box and I find it a little bright. Coming from a 4X12 you'll wonder where the bottom has gone and you will certainly need to play with your tone to be happy. It took me a while to get tone I was comfortable with. Had to tweek all of my patches. But! I can lift it with one hand!

Having said that, I've heard good things about Avatar and I'm told that the best sounding 2X12 is made by Bogner. (I think the Bogner is almost as heavy as my old Marshall and it's a Bogner so expensive.)

For my second 2X12 I'll probably try the Avatar simply because they seem well made and you can get them loaded with whatever you want for speakers. They are also a little bigger than the Carvin and I would expect that they will "breath" a little better.

Let us know what you end up with.
 
i'm also very picky about bottom-end from a small cab because a 4x12 is so good in that respect. but, my poor back can't lug one around anymore. the best sounding setup i have for ease of transport is 2 peavey 112sx speaker cabs w/ the sheffields replaced with vintage 30 speakers. i get an incredible tone without sacrificing all the bottom.

and it gets looooud.
 
I second the vote for avatar. The only thing I don't like is that they can't build your cabinet with switchable resistance; I prefer to be able to switch my cab from 4 to 16 ohms or 8-16 ohms to accomodate different heads and power amps... avatar only lets you specify a single setting when you get your cab built. On the other hand, it's real wood, they're one of the only makers that still make "slant" 2x12 cabs, and you can't beat the price.
 
Yeah, losing bottom kinda scares me, but its all that bottom you gotta roll out to get a mix anyway. Ya know? I'll let ya know.
 
I'd reccomend Carvin too. All plywood construction keeps the weight down. I was at the factory last week and their stuff continues to get better and better. Since the grandson got his shit together and things over, they've really improved. I really liked that little battery powered PA and the little 15 watt tube vintage amp.
