looking for feedback.

hi there,

i finally got tired of being limited by my 4 track hd recorder.
i just went nuts on ebay and bought the following:

** mackie 24x8 board (w/meter bridge)
** 3 echoaudio darla24 cards (synchable) (with 3 balanced 8 channel snakes to bridge the pc and the breakout boxes)
** dell p4 2.1ghz PC with 500mb ram and 60gb hd
** sony trinitron 21" monitor
** cakewalk sonar 2.1xl
** argosy 70 series console desk for the 24x8

i guess since ive come this far
now i need:

studio monitors
good mics

anybody have any experience with a similar setup to the one ive aquired and can you provide me feedback on how well or poorly this configuration works?

also, anybody have any good advice on studio monitors and mics that are good but not ridiculously expensive?

i am no sound engineer (yet). i have much to learn and any help, advice, comments, etc are appreciated.

Just put your microphone in front of the Pa speaker and turn it all the way up....

i am a long time musican, just not much of a sound engineer beyond EQing my live performance gear, etc.

Hey man, sounds like a giant undertaking...good luck. For the ultimate in flexibility get a couple patchbays and use them to eliminate plugging/unplugging from the jacks of all your gear.

Besides a few nice outboard processors and a parametric eq, I would Pick up a nice Audio Technica condensor, a Sennheiser 421, AKG d112 and a nice two channel preamp.

Monitors are not my area of expertise (like I have one) but I like my Alesis monitor one speakers.
