Getting Closer!

I was reading all the feedback on my 99 red balloons thread.

I have been playing around with the amp modeler on the Digitech even as limited as it may be.

I need feedback on the rhythm guitar in this song. This is a rough cut and kind of cheese so you know.

Guitars sound okay, but the vocals are too up front or something…maybe a little delay. How do you get that plunky/staccato sort of sound from the rhythm guit?

Kinda grungy, I like it. The lead guitar sound needs a little tweaking but all in all it sounds fine.

The rhythm guitar sounds good & thick. The lead still has that "direct" sound, fatter than it was but still lacking just a bit. By the way that's a KILLER tune. Very nice.

I love the guitar sound. All you need is a "real" drummer. The triplets on the ride and hi hat kinda killed the crunch of the song, IMO. That's gonna be a killer tune though. I like it already.

Rythym guitar sounds good to me. The lead guitar should come out as the tone king, imo. It sounded quite a bit weaker than the lead guitar. But you asked for critique on the rythym. I liked it. It sounded tuned down? I would play the lead in a lower register and double track it if it were me. It needs that lower crunchier tone. Oh well, thats my two pennies. I think you have a really cool song in the works there.

Looking forward to more,

Brian

Guitars sound good to me, man they're thick and heavy. But it'll be better with some real drums in there I think. And I agree with sixstringblues about the lead, get it out there. Cool song there, good job so far. :D

Lovely rhythm guitar sound. Could use a tad more punch on the low-end, but don't listen to my opinions on this, since I sometimes go overboard on the lows. The whole mix sounds distorted, so you'd better check out your levels. Drums sound great.

Hey, the vocals sound eerily like our own B.Sab... hmmm... coincidence ? :D (or a third personality, perhaps?)

The song is a good rocker. You know what, forget what I said about the lack of low-end punch after all.

Nice classic rock tune.

Rhthym guitar sounds good, maybe a little overpowering at times in relation to lead guitar, which sounds kinda thin. Hard to tell, but I think stereo field needs to be broadened (is that a word?). It might be that, as someone else mentioned, the levels are too high and so it's lacking headroom.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will sooner or later get this recording thing figured out but by that time I will be too old to remember it!

Dont you just love it monty when you take the time to listen to someones tune, and they dont have 3 seconds of their time to answer a simple question you asked?

Well, you know how it is with these big rock stars...busy, busy, busy...probably showing his crib on MTV.;) It's difficult to convey in typing anyway. I should take some lessons anyway. I can play, but it's all my own self-taught shit. I need some pro pointers.

LOL!MTV Cribs.:D
Im in the same boat with the playing.;)I think most of the people here are self-taught and just experiment until they find what they're looking for.

You can get results a lot quicker when someone will spill the beans and drop some first-hand info on how to get a certain sound though.

I just bought an Eric Johnson advanced Guitar 2 video set,so that should keep me busy for the next 25 years or so.

Back when I used to play in bands is when I used to learn a lot. The interaction between people and sharing of ways, etc.

monty...your current avatar is about the most gorgeous pic of a lady I have ever seen.. almost like a young lindsey buckingham in a way...

..as I don't have the slightest idea who it is.

oh...the gtrs sounded ok.... better yet when the 'whole' band kicked in. The intro, I didn't like with the panning, etc. Kinda contrived sounding... and not as good as an ole AC/DC.. good tune, however.

btw...how did you get that 'stacatto' sound on the one gtr?;)
