Hey, im looking to start a decent studio with my budget. I got about 2000 to start with. I was thinking of getting the Roland Studio Pack Pro, that comes with a sound card and a mixing control surface for a computer that can record 8 tracks at once, which is what i want and it is $1300. I want to get a computer jsut for recording and im looking to spend around 500, i already have a monitor.

So basically what is your opinion on the roland pack, and also what kind of pre built computer do you guys suggest for recording around 500. Do you know a website i could go to? thanks.

This Paris system rocks....its technology is a few years old but it will blow away anything you can put together yourself for 2G's...this is used in pro studios in nashville.......$1649 and use the rest to put together a host computer...you wont need top of the line because the paris system will have all the DSP power you need......

Hey thanks for the suggestion, it seems pretty interesting. Im going to check it out.

That thing looks nice, but for now i still think i am going to go with a computer and that roland si-24 pack. It is more in my budget range in the long run. So does anyone have any suggestions for a computer around $500? I need to buy this within the next few days. anything will help, links to websites where i can buy some, and brand names, whatever. Thank you all very much for any suggestions.

you can try newegg.com , tigerdirect.com , or egghead.com or you can look in the local classified ads and buy a used one for 200 dollars and add a new motherboard/cpu and hard drive@7200 rpms and be done.

Falopo,

I was looking at getting orignal Roland Studio Pack as well for a while, but then I started hearing about major compatiblity issues between the software, soundcard, and the mixer. All the component are made by 3 differet manufaturers (Roland, Emagic, and M-audio) and support is pretty spotty. There is also a steep learning curve. I am not sure if those issues have been fixed with the PRO version. but it is something you may want to look into. Check out www.vsplanet.com. It is Roland users group and the forums has a studio pack section that you can get your questions answered as well.

Good Luck.
