While not exactly a powerhouse, the Antec P150 is very quiet. I've just recently started using one, and am very happy with the case. The deadening panels in the sides, and suspension hard drive bays work great. ...its quiet enough i often find myself trying to turn the computer on, when it is in fact already running.

My recommendation, based on Martin's review of the unit and my use of it, is PAQ.

Contact Peter as he builds DAWs as well as provide cases that have been reviewed and tested to be one of the quietest available.

I have been building DAW's for people lately. My favorite case right now (which offers some sort of compromise between space, accessibility, loudness, build quality and looks) is the NZXT cases. I have used many of the to date and they work great, look good, offer lots of easily accesible space, have great features, and seem very durable and quiet. I have been using the Lexa series from NZXT.

I highly recommend the Antec Sonata for a home PC (an with a few fan upgrades, for a DAW as well). The construction and durability are top notch, and it looks gorgeous to boot. I am not planning on replacing it until they think up a crazy-small form factor that makes ATX completely obsolete!

I recently bought a Norco 910D 4U case and am very happy with the construction/durability. I am mainly using it for a mobile recording DAW but had to order 2 near-silent (a necessary expense for a DAW, and hard to find stock in a case) 120mm fans with a fan controller for them. I am very pleased with this case...but it is a little longer than I was anticipating (23"). I might retire it someday for a Norco 810D which weighs in at just over 18" making it more practical to rack. (The 910 would find a happy home as a home server case so no loss there :))

My .02.

Cheers for the replies

Terra, what happened? You used to be sane, did the mac vs pc thread drive you to the brink? :)
