Looking for a good microphone for a gift, but I know nothing.

Yay!

Awesome! This was the kind of thing (PreSonus 1Box | Sweetwater.com) I really thought he needed, but didn't know what I was really looking for. He mentioned a mic, so I thought I would splurge on that, but he really needs some additional items that happen to be offered in this bundle. Initially, I think this is the best way to go. The super nice mic can be a little later on down the line.

P.S. I enjoyed the beer conversation. One day when I don't know what else to get him, maybe I will consider some beer. But for now, he can continue buying it for me. :) Haha
 
I may have missed it but what's in his computer for recording?
You can suggest to im to down load Reaper I'm sure he'll like it. It's a free full version for ever .... well not really you get it for a month trial and then you get a nag screen at start up but after a while if it's to his liking the cost is $60. Not to bad.
