I can't really find any. Obviously I want something cheap, everyone does. But how do they compare to more expensive ones? What are more expensive ones? I am looking for it for snare.
You can twist almost any maul-the-band compressor into a frequency conscious gate. The only one I've used that was worth a damn (IMO/E) was the UAD Precision Maul-The-Band (multi-band).
For that matter, it's one of the only MBC's I'd use - as rarely as that happens. I use it as a frequency conscious expander far more (probably 10 to 1) than as a compressor.
the VC64 channelstrip that comes with sonar6 and maybe newer versions has one on it. VC64 is made by another company that has it's own version, but I can't remember the company off the top of my head.
I will do a bit of looking. It's a decent freq dependent gate and it's part of a very nice channel with dual compression.
ill try to program one for you for my final project
but the one i've tried and grown to love, comes with adobe audition 3...
izotopes multiband compressor.. (i believe thats what we're talking about here)
What makes you think that? I don't see what a sidechain has to do with anything, unless my understanding of what a sidechain is and its capability is wrong.
Basically replace compressor in the majority of the article with gate. I think this was what the OP was driving at? Plus it's free if you already have a gate with side-chain capability and a DAW that can route appropriately.
