Hey guys. I'm looking for a decent drum machine in the 0-$250 range :D. The drummer at our church has alot of responsibilities so he can't be there all the time. I'm looking for a machine that has good programming capabililties and also i'm hoping i can find one that i'm able to use my own sounds with. A machine with some kind of drive where i can load my own sounds. If one can't be found in that range, i'd at least like a machine with good sounds. I was looking at a boss dr-660 on ebay for $115. It doesn't let me load my own sounds but I think imma get that unless someone can find me a better deal. Thanks in advance guys.

Machine's i'm lookin at-

Boss Dr-660
Boss Dr-550 Mk 2
Alesis Sr-16

Korg ES-1 will allow you to use your own sounds and you should be able to find one in that price range. Make sure you also have a SD card and reader for it

i dont' know how good the Boss dr 660 is but i have a dr 880 and i'm happy with it. it works well and it's very programmable. i don't see the 660 being that much of a downgrade.

I have a Boss DR-670, which retails for a bit more than your upper limit. It's much like Nicole's 880, but without the guitar modeling processor and less memory.

It's still a very capable device and I'm very pleased with it. I'm thinking that a used one would be within your price range.

I'm gonna go ahead and get the dr-660. Imma buy that on Friday.

a dr880 is a much, much, better machine. the sounds are way better and the ease of use much improved. i would strongly suggest checking out a boss dr.880 before purchasing the dr660. i've seen many people decide to spend more on the 880 just because they realize that they will actually use and enjoy the dr880 way more than any of the other models. it may seem like to much but i really think it is a much better purchase.

Yo Ton-a:

I go along with Lazi's advice. The Boss 880 will "make" you want to play. It has very good sound and a BASS line you can use if you want to. Or, you can just shut off the bass line.

And, you can change keys of the bass line patch. Pretty amazing little box. But, as mentioned, it runs about twice [new] the price of your budget.

Borrow a few pezzutos from a couple of girlfriends and get the 880.

I suppose in 2007, there will be an 890?

Green Hornet :D
