OK....here's the scoop. My dad retired and offered me the opportunity of buying a business and i noticed a studio for sale here in Los Angeles. I don't know the specifics yet, seeing as i am looking at all types of businesses but this one caught my eye.
I am a musician with a limited knowledge of the studio (recorded albums in a band, worked at a PA in a studio, etc...) and would love all kinds of input from you guys regarding my abilities to run a studio.
I am very realistic in the fact that I am not an engineer and ideally would hand off all those responsibilites to a head engineer so I could tackle the numbers, promotions, etc.
What are my chances on this working? Do others get into other situations like this, or are all studio owners engineers.? As you can see I'm started my research from scratch and looking for other places for knowledge, so if any of you have suggestions it would be appreciated.
Please speak candidly and don't avoid hitting me with the truth. I just want to know the bottomline.
