Lookin for a cheap sampler..

I'm talking dirt cheap that I can buy for like $50. I don't mind buyin it off ebay or a trusted site but I'm lookin for the best available example of what I'm lookin for: Roland 707
Lookin to see if anybody can recommend another type.

ps - Don't know if this is the right place to talk about samplers, it said other sound modules so I assume so. thanks for any advice or help u can give me
 
Go to KVR and do a search.

You will not find a working hardware sampler for $50 unless you get very lucky, but there are several if not many soft samplers out there for that much --- some even free!
 
you may be able to find a akai s912 for about fifty bucks but it has about 10 sec sampling time total.

I would take ssscientist's advice and go software

And there is no such thing as a Roland 707 sampler, the TR-707 was a 12bit digital drum machine from the mid-80's

You're talking about the S900 - it was 12-bit and I'm not sure how much memory it had but 10 seconds would've been a WHOLE LOT back in the day...

The Roland sampler Artikulate is talking about is probably a Roland S770, and you still can't get one of those for under $200 bones.

There WAS an Akai 612, but it had a postage stamp memory and used 'quik disks' to store samples.

Yep,
thats what i meant. Its upside down day today. Actually been looking 4 one since it plugs into my AX-60 as a second osc

I didn't know that Akai had their cross-polination between products down that early on! Those must have come out in 1986 or 1987...
 
I thnk it was a one time thing since it was only available on the AX-60, but its a cool feature

I would like to see that ad for S770?

Perhaps S750, but those that own S770, rarely would depart from it. In EU, most owners would ask 400-500$+
provided, they are even considering.

Even today, very usable machine, back in Summer 1988. when released it was incredibly equipped sampler.

I didn't imagine that. Do your own search on eBay and you'll probably find one.

We've come a looooooong way since 'Summer 1988' --- a whole lot further in the music technology world than the 18 years that have passed would lead one to believe.

I have an MPC1000 sitting next to me that has 128 megs of ram and a 20 gigabyte hard drive in it that, back in 1988, would have been impossible to buy for under $100,000.

Left to my own devices, I probably should.

Alas, so it is : S-770 (wait a few second to be redirected to ebay link)

Links says, it originates from 1989, but as I said, I remember a product announcement in Summer 1988, yes, those days it was a real letter :)

My Nostalgia for greatest tech/industrial design decade ...80's, makes me like this at times.

However, a friend of mine sold one for mentioned price, it was mint and completely checked. Also seen the similar price in DE Keyboards. But, I suppose 1988, truly is a gone Summer.
