i hope i posted this in the right forum. it's kinda hard for me to explain. the only place i have to set my recording gear ( mixer, monitors, and the rest of "stuff" ) and have my amps setting in the kitchen which isn't going over with my wife to good :( what i was wondering, the quietest place to set my amps and mics is in a bedroom about 45 feet from my desk. i have some 50 feet mic cables and have a 25' guitar cable, and fixed a cable that i can plug my guitar cable into which gives me aproximatly 60' of cable when plugged together. would these long cables work without causing a nasty hum or anything anoying ? it's not my BR is why i ask. a friend is staying with us and it is his room. he has no probs with me doing this if it will work.

Long mic cables are not a problem. They can be hundreds of feet long with no problems whatsoever. The guitar cable on the other hand is. About 20'-25' is about the maximum length before problems occur.

I hadn't thought about it, and have not noticed any sound issues, but I run my 20 ft guitar cables to a resistance mixer (mounted on my pedalboard) then another 20 ft cable to the amp. Thoughts?

I keep guitar cable runs as short as possible in the studio. I will put pedals on top of the head and run a 1/2' cable from them to the head if we have to use pedals. The cable from amp to guitar head is only 6'.

It may be overkill but I notice a difference between that kind of setup and longer cable setups (I have a few 20' cables from when I used to play out).
