Long-Distance-Recording?

A friend and I would like do do some long distance tracking by sharing files...we both use cakewalk and are relative newbies especially to web stuff...My first impulse is to use some "freedrive" and we have already established mp3 sharing...what I don't get is do we need a special utility to morph mp3 to wav to use in Cake or what....If you are out there doing this kind of stuff let me know how and also any sites that might helpful thanks

If your serious about the sonic quality of your work. Burn your wave's to CD-R and mail them back and forth. Decompressing mp3 to wav is ok for guide tracks and what not, but for mixing down it's better to work with the original wav format.
