This is what I want to do:
import a midi file into LogicVS ( mac ) and then record the audio playback from LogicVS to my VS1680.
I can import the midi file into LogicVS with no problems.
( side bar: I discover that although the midi tracks show up on seperate channels in LogicVs I have to assign each midi track to a synth/module. It seems that LogicVS can not automatically do that assignment. Although, perhaps I have not created the proper preferences in LogicVS. )
OK, the midi file is imported and the midi channels assigned to a synth for audio playback. The VS1680 is setup to record. When I hit play in LogicVS, nothing starts to play or to record.
I have done the midi settings and MTC/MMC parameters on the VS as outlined in chapter 5 of Logic owner's manual ( version 4/pdf ).
SySex set up:
SysEX TRANSMIT set to ON
SysEX RECEIVE set to ON
MTC & MMC parameters
VS set to MMC slave
VS set to trasmits MTC
There must be something else I forgot about.
I have also opened a song project previously recorded on the VS with DigitalPerformer playback of an audio file. Then created several midi tracks ( let's say midi channel 1,2,3 and 10 ) in the arrangement window of that song. In the matric window ( the one with the keyboard lay out on the left hand side of the screen ) I can mouse click the keyboard and there is playback sound from my synth.
Then by opening the mixing board I muted the audio tracks only.
The midi channels 1,2,3 show midi activity but no sound from my synth. Channel 10, drum channel, shows midi activity and drum sounds are played back from my synth.
Not sure why there is no playback of sound from my synth other than the drum track.
Comments/advice/help please.
