I've come to what seems like the biggest obstacle I've faced in my home studio setup thus far. I am desperate to figure out if I can, and how to, use my external Roland XV5080 sound module with Logic Pro 8 in a similar way to how Logic uses software synths. I get way more inspiration out of the Roland sounds and love the external interface (and I would love to add a Korg module to my system if I can get the midi control setup that I'm after). So basically, I'm hoping I can get Logic to recognize which preset is being played and automatically recall through midi control and for allowing me to use midi functions like quantizing with the Roland sounds in recording and editing. Just the words 'midi control' make my head spin so I'm hoping someone can help demystify this setup. Any help will be extremely welcomed! Thanks

I am not an expert on this but you may only be able to record it as an audio file and not midi data considering the sounds on your Roland aren't able to be proccessed as midi through logic. BUT its sounds totally plausible to me and I am only 50-50 on this, so dont give up.
