Logic and Oxygen 8

Trying to connect my Oxygen 8 to my iMac with Logic. The iMac does not see it. I have an old powerbook and the O8 shows up in Midi Setup and plays and is recognized when I run Garageband. When I hook it up to the iMac Intel it doesn't show up in Garageband or Midi Setup, let alone Logic. I've downloaded drivers. Do I need to use a midi/usb cord for the iMac? Any help?
