LiveSynth PRO 1.2 and Sonar 2.0 XL

Hi All, (i posted the same thread in Cakewalk newsgroup)

I have a strange problem with LSPro and Sonar :

When i setup some SFonts (SF2) instruments routed in LSPRO , I randomly loose the sound of one or more instruments. Sometimes i need to change channel and/or patch and go back to my original channel and /or patch setting and the sound come back. I've tried polyphony setting (lower and higher than the default) and this does not solved the problem. All my track settings are ok (ie : Output, channel, patch).

I wonder if you have (or had) the same problem ... I don't know if it's a Sonar or LS problem ...

By the way i own Sonar 2.0 XL and LSpro 1.2. SBLive ! and Win XP.

Do you recommend Vsampler instead of LSPRO (i just want to play SFont samples).

If you're using a SB Live!, why not use it to play SFs aswell? Just use this excellent walk-through by mr. James Argo, and you'll be allright...

But if you don't want to use the Live!, why not go for the Livesynth Pro DXi? It makes things much easier. :)

Thank for this questions ...

Sorry All ... I forgot these informations ...

I own Livesynth pro DXi and i want to use the soft synth because i want to use DX effects on these midi tracks or even bounce them (by mixdown) into wave tracks to work with DX effects. (it's more convenient then "recording" all the midi track and waiting the lenght of the song).

Then why don't just use the Livesynth DXi for your SFs? You can add realtime-effects directly to the track. :)

That's what i do with LS DXi. I use it to play soundfonts though it.

That's when the problem mentionned occurs.

Sorry, maybe my question was not clear.

Sorry, maybe I'm the one who is confused. I thought LSpro couldn't be used directly in Sonar. Only the DXi version...

Anyway: What's your setup? It could be that your computer i struggeling with playing back the samples (too low latency, not enough RAM or something like that).

It's my fault, I did not mention on my first thread that i owned the DXi version ...

Atlon 1 GHZ, 256 M Ram, Win XP. Sonar 2.0 XL (WDM driver)

I am not at my studio now. If i remember, the latency is set at 100 ms (as default i think).

I think you gave me a hint now... i should test the latency setting and see what is the effect on the LS pro DXi playback.

I'll take a look at that tonight.

Thank you

It could be that the particular soundfont is bad... :(

I have an Athlon 1.3, 512 ram, xp, S2.0XL, SBLive,
I set the latency at around 130. I use LSPro for my soundfonts. I use one episode of LSPro per track and only load one soundfont per episode. I have ran multiple tracks into a single LSP and had some note dropping issues. As a single instrument per track I had no problems.

Problem Solved !

Hi All,

I solved my problem ... i've upgraded to version 1.4 of LS Pro DXI (I had 1.1).

I saw in the version history that this issue has been solved since version 1.3.

Now i can play many soundfonts file without any problems.

Thank you all for helping.

Musart.

Damn, I knew this. But I forgot it, it's some time since I upgraded to 1.4... ;)

It's Ok if you don't want to share your secrets !! LoL

I'm kidding.

Thank you for your help anyway.

See Ya
