Prepare yourself for the worst! Definitely.
So take every conceivable cable with you, including spares, all sort of connectors and adaptors. Never forget a double set of media and use the largest capacity ones you can find or you miss 2 minutes. Take also spare batteries, a power extension lead long enough to get to the next village and a power bar with the double of outputs needed.
And a roll of tape, a notepad, a pencil (better 2). Mark you media before you leave, change after recording and write protect.
Test everything before you leave and make sure you know how to get your gear out of the most obscure menus and setup screens without needing the manual.
Something to put everything on with an anti-slip surface is nice to have and having it within arm reach is essential.
Believe me, I have ran to a shop for an adaptor minutes before start and seached a whole church for a power extention (and found one!).
