live recording

I have recently attempted to record two shows from a band I've been working with.
The first time I used a couple of ev re-16's at the mix position into a dat recorder. The most recent show I created a sub-mix for the dat, which I like way better. I would like some opinions on the quality of this recording.

equipment:
mackie 1402 vlz
some shure for vocals
ev re-16 for the lone drum mic (didn't have enough cable for more)
tascam da-20
crappy mics on the guitar amps
bass runs direct, but the levels are low.

any suggestions for future shows are much appreciated, except for "just stick 2 mics at the mix position" because I'm never doing that again.lol

i don't know what the problem is ..it is real quiet, but live show are suppose to sound like this. i've never recorded a live show, so i apologize for not being able to offer any tips, buit i can say that it sounds great to me. the vocals could be more powerful. the lead guitarist needs some work or maybe he is just a bit drunk or nervous. sounds good for an amateur act with humble equipment

Thanks for listening! I believe i could do just a bit better with it if I could just pay more attention to the levels during the show, but I had to sort of best guess it.

I think for "documenting" a live show...this is just fine. If you're looking for a more *slicker* sound...you're just gonna need to add to your equipment list....like drum mics. Recording to a Dat, of course eliminates mixer at a later time. The recording sounds very mono-ish....no stereo field.
