The sound company that we generally try to use regionally uses a split snake to a monitor mixer to give us individual monitor mixes. If memory serves, they are using a 24x10 monitor mixer, and I think the brand is a Midas. I don't have as much time as I like at shows to check out all the gear. My question is.. where do you find monitor mixers? I have been looking all over and can't seem to find them anywhere on the net for sale. I'd like to have one myself for the smaller gigs when we want to use our own PA gear. We already have a 3 way 24 channel split snake. If nothing else, I'm going to try to find a cheap 8 bus mixer, I think that would do the job, as there are only 2 of us and 2-4 in our backing band totalling at most 6 seperate mixes.

Live sound experts? :)

I'm answering my own question here..in case anyone else is ever looking for the same thing I am.

Yamaha makes a 24 channel 12 bus live mixer (GF24/12) which has 4 group outputs and 6 aux outputs for $1429. It would probably work perfectly for a monitor mixer. The 6 aux sends could be for 6 individual monitor mixes and 2 of the group outs could be used for side fills in places they are needed.

Found it at Sweetwater, go figure.
