To those experienced live mixers on the board, I was wondering, what essential gear do you bring to every show (rack or otherwise), and what equipment is traditionally available to you at most venues? Thanks in advance for your responses.

That's a pretty broad question. Usually you bring everything or nothing. It just depends on the house and what you are doing. Can you be a little more specific as to what you are doing?

I Always always always bring one thing: my "green bag".

contents:

Screwdrivers
Electrical tape
wire cutter
adapters
- 1/4" >rca
- rca> 1/4"
-XLR>1/4"
-1/4">xlr
-etc...
wire
soldering iron
flashlight
cables
sharpie
masking tape
reference CD (good shit)
insert cables
duct tape
mic clips

and assorted other odds and ends.

Well if we're talking about gig survival gear then don't forget a change of clothes and some sunglasses in case the drive home happens after sunrise.
