Hey all, im new to this forum and just thought i would share a mix that i have done reacently. The recording was done about a year ago and i did a mix back then but i decided to revisit it to see if my mixing has improved. Which i think it has lol

It was all recorded live except the vocal which was overdubbed.

Kick - Sennheiser e602
Snare - Shure SM57
overheads - S.E. Electronics SE 1a's
Bass Amp recorded with a shure sm58 style mic (can't remember what it was) + DI
Guitar - Peavy Classic 50 amp with 57 on one speaker and a MXL V69 Mogami Edition
Vocals - MXL V69 ME

Please leave some comments!

Sounds like some SRV Little Wing lickage in there. The band sounds good. The guitar player is clearly very good. The weakest is the vocal. You say it was overdubbed afterwards...maybe the singer could have a few more runs at it...maybe mess with reverb or something to try and gel it a little better. Very enjoyable, nonetheless.

The guitar on this is hot. Awesome, and sounds good in its recorded quality. The vocals do need work. Anyway to spruce up this guys voice would be a plus - reverb, effects, eq, doubled vocal, try anything that might work. The bass gets a little loud at times too - especially at the start of the guitar solos. It seems like the drums are pretty good.

I love the blues. You got the right idea keeping the guitarist front and center in the mix.

You need to have the bell in the beginning. It's just not the same without it. Don't care for the vocal approach.

probably don't need to post it cuz it's basically a reiteration of what everyone else has been saying. but yeah, vocals aren't there. everything else works though.

Guitarist sounds really good. Drums are too low and need some definition, snare-drum sounds awful. Sorry, but the singer's style absolutely doesn't fit this song. You need someone with guts and dirt in his voice. Keep working on it 'cos it's not a bad version.

Joey :)
