Hey there home recording peeps...
I was sent here by someone over at Future Producers to see if maybe some of you might be able to help me out. I'm not really a big fan of just showing up somewhere and asking "hey, what am I supposed to do" so, I will do my best to contribute what I can to the community here.
For now, I'm trying to figure out what to do with the small space I am using for my home studio. I had a nice size room in our house that I was using but my wife and I decided that it would be better to use that room for a guest bedroom. So, I moved my setup into a small semi finished space in our basement. Now, I'm having all sorts of problems with the low and mid freq's and can't seem to get my mixes sounding right.
Since this is where my studio will permanently live, I have to do something to get it tuned so that I can do what I love. I can do anything I want with it and I am capable of building everything myself. I just need to come up with a plan and get things right. I have been doing tons of research and have a pretty good idea of how acoustics work and what absorption and diffusion can do for me but since I am working with such a small space I can tell that it is going to be a challenge no matter what. I don't want to put out money on things that aren't going to help the situation so, I'm wondering if some of you might be able to help me come up with a design/plan.
This is how things are right now...

1. The house is built on a hill so only part of the basement is underground. You can see how the concrete steps down.
2. The ceiling is unfinished
3. The wall to the right only has sheet rock on one side (1 layer) and you can see the cedar siding on the other walls.
4. It's about 7.5' w x 12' l x' 7.5' h and only has 3 walls (behind me is open to the rest of the unfinished basement)
5. Concrete floor
6. A big ol' window to the left
Looking at this "johnlsayers.com/Studio/Pages/Clicktrack.htm" and thinking something similar might work. I produce electronic music (house, techno, downtempo), don't do much with vocals right now but may in the future and, occasionally record live instruments. A scenario that would accommodate all these things would be good but I'm mainly trying to end up with a good room for mixing.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
My name is Mike, nice to meet ya!
