i enabled the login on my laptop last nite, xp.. when i got the laptop about 18mths ago i made up the password but never enabled the login.. today when i tried to login it gave me the option of login in under my profile or as a guest, i cant remember what password i used, i never made up a hint to remind me of the password either... i have a bunch of passwords that i use for different things and it is none of those.. is there anyway of turning off this password and getting back into my profile

or are my screwed....

all advice appreciated

I've never used a login password before, so this may not work, but during bootup, can you get to the BIOS and turn it off there? Just a thought.

ya i think so too...

i dont use password logins either, i turned it on accidentally, tought nothing of it untill this morning when i tried to login

i tried going into system setting there was password settings there for the system but nothing for turning off the password setting for xp

i can still login in under the guest profile but it wont let me access the internet its saying my wireless device is enabled so i think that means its still enabled on my profile and all my songs, files, movies, photos are on my profile

FUUUUUUUU@@@@@@KKKKKKK

You can delete the password file on startup with a bootdisk. You'll have to Google it though as I can't find it. I remember seeing instructions along time ago, I think the file is "login.scr" or maybe it's a completely different one.

i did find a couple of links on google about that back up disc... ill look into it some more

what i've done for the moment is i've loaded up an old copy of windows 2000 i really only use the laptop going online, i dont use my recording pc for going on line and i have most of the stuff that i had on my profile backed up on an external disc

im sure ill get it sorted coz windows 2000 sucks

thanks for all the help

i love learning the hard way!!!!!!
