Master of the Obvious
I have MSI k7N2 Delta2-lsr Motherboard (nForce2 w/ RAID and SATA onboard Controllers), 1 IDE 40G Seagate (for system), 2 SATA 320G Seagate (for Audio w/ RAID1).

I've built PCs and fix many friends... just never run a RAID setup. Is it as simple as turning on the RAID controller in my BIOS, installing drivers and running through the setup?

I guess my question is this...

I'm going to do a fresh Install of XP on the IDE system drive. Most of what I have read says press F6 before installing XP so you can install the RAID drivers. Well what if I'm not putting the OS on the RAID drives.

Can I 1st setup XP and get my system running good (tweaks) and then setup the RAID. Or does XP need those drivers while it's configuring itself?

Any help would be great, and I hope I explained this correctly.
Thanks,
B.

If you're not installing the OS on the RAID, you don't need to worry about the drivers during the setup. Just install XP and then worry about the RAID.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought, just wasn't sure. That way I can setup my sytem and know it's running smooth... then deal w/ the SATA and RAID.

Thanks again,
B.
