ive figured out what i want to be able to do but im not sure what equpiment i need. i need to be able to sample from a keyboard, sequence the samples, and then record to CD

i have a v good sound card, CD-R but not sure of what sampler/sequencer to get, something like the korg electribe rhythm production sampler/sequencer (only not so $$) but my question is how can i run this thorugh my computer (ie what hard ware and software is needed)

Thanks for the knowledge

There is tons of stuuf out there.

Almost all quality keyboards have sampling options
with an onboard Seq' with outputs to send to your soundcard.

Then there are dedicated hardware samplers like Akai were you can find a nice deal on a used one but basicly every HD system is a sampler.
You can load .wav samples or record into any multitrack software and manipulate it to your liking.

Why do you need a keyboard? There are software samplers that work fine like Gigasampler -Pulsar -Emagic's new software (forgot the name).
.
What you want is a simple feature these days.
Why not walk over to your local music store and take a look at what they have to offer for your budget.
Then comeback here and ask people for their opinions.
