Ok. I've been working on getting a sound that I can be proud of, the problem I am facing is my guitar tone, specifically for now. I have been a guiar player for quite some time but only recently started with my vocals and structured writing.

Any tips on getting a better acoustic tone? I have an Ibazen acoustic/electric with pre-amp and an extra XLR output....this was recorded with the XLR.

heres the download link....

The sound is fine. Its too much treble in the guitar, a simple eq will fix most of that. Song is interesting, might work with a fuller arrangement. Vocals probably need some compression. :)

I appreciate it. I have absolutely no experience with compression, I have heard that it elps but have heard that it isnt really worth it to go out and buy an actual compressor. What is compressing the vocals going to do for me?

Maybe thats part of what I am missing trying to get these songs sounding a little more smooth and professional. Im also recording this with a marginally cheap set up haha, and in my basement, so take tha tinto consideration.

Most of us do, I use the living room :D

The vocals dont have the right reverb for starters, they are muddy. Compression will help them stay at the same volume, it will make them consistent. Most "pro" vocals use compression at some point.

Is the guitar direct in? If it is you may try micing it. That may get rid of some of the brightness of the guitar.

David is right the reverb on the vocals is not working. Or use the same reverb but a lot less.

Nice song overall. Some tweeking and it will sound nice.

haha right on, thanks. Im going to just experiment with some compression and see if I can get an alright sound, the reverb is also a little beyond me. As far as what songs SHOULD sound like you know, i get to caught up in hearing the crazy reverbs and saying "haha that sounds awesome". nyway thanks man,

If anyone gets a chance I have two other songs uploaded on my myspace, I would gladly take any feedback I can get....

I read somewhere once regarding reverb that if you can actually hear the 'verb as a separate entity from the original instrument/sound it's WAY too much. It's pretty true too unless you're cahsing classic surf , psych or space.
