So, I'm basically looking for some home studio book recommendations.

I'm very new to the home recording biz, and (for now) am basically just setting up a practice station for myself and a friend as we work out song ideas etc. So far we have a Tascam 424mkiii, an M-Audio DMP3, an Audio Technica AT3035 LDC, a Shure SM57, and an Oktava MK-012.

I have viewed the Bookstore page of this site and am now hoping to receive some personal recommendations. What helped out get your feet wet, or should I just stick to online forums & guides (though I must admit, I likes the paper.)

Anything and everything relating to (preferably analogue) recording.

Thanks in advance.

A lot of those books have some old dates on them, I would look for something fairly new. A book from 1986?? Reagan was president, dag nabit

Personally, I would go to my local Borders and just peruse what they have. I am a book guy too, I think you will know what you want when you see it.

BadAE, wow, some interesting stuff - not sure if there's anything that really suits my general uses (the psychoaccoustics might be a fun read), but, hmm...I guess I'll have to keep looking.

DavidK, I'll probably head out to some local shops this week and see what I can find...

that being said, if anyone else has some specific titles, that would be great - I'm looking for general recording info (tips on mic placement, tape types (analogist...get it?), mixing tricks, etc. - don't be afraid to recommend something technical - I know my babble well enough.)

Thanks again.

there's a recent thread floating around "What books do you have in your studio?" or something like that. You might peruse that thread...there's some suggestions & discussions thereof.

Thanks Mr.frog, that thread proved to be quite helpful!
