I'm adding a CD drive to my Zoom MRS1266.
I have been recommended the LiteOn 52-32-52 CDRW.

Has anyone here done this successfully?
And if so, can you offer any insight into what I'm in for?
Is it a simply install? Or does it involve reconfiguring of any sort, or special wiring instructions?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I have added Lite-On drives to PCs, the drives themselves are damn solid. Let us know how it turns out.

There's a guy on here called Kevin DeSchwazi (his real name's Nick!) who fitted a CD-RW in his Zoom all-in-one recorder ... PM him and he might be able to help! If you want to say that I sent you, that's fine. Hope that helps.

Hey Zoom why don't you switch on email alert or something.

I responded to your post in one of the other forums regarding this. If I can do it anyone can.

Hey Nick,

Thanks for the response ...
Did you use a LiteOn 52-32-52?
Anything "special" I need to do?
Or is it as simple as just installing it and plugging it in?

Thanks!

No worries,

I did indeed buy a 52-32-52. Those newer liteons have something called smartburn technology anyway so the drive automatically reads and writes at speeds which are comfortable for the Zoom.

Nothing special for you to think about, if you've plugged in a kettle then you'll be ok with this. Plug it in, turn it on and the zoom will say howdy to the CD/RW straight away and with no need for your intervention.

Only slight problem is the fact that the drive will be a little loose in the unit. It sits fairly flush as you look at it but will slide back and forth if you tilt the unit. I used abit of sticky velcro and mine now fits like a german virgin. :D

You not got a manual then?

Here's one

Check out page 17 for CD/RW drive installation.

Feels good saving ££££ (or in your case $$$$$) doesn't it?

Enjoy the Zoom.

Awesome!

Thanks Nick ...
I DO have the manual, and did read how to install the cd drive, but I just wasn't sure if I had to do anything different when installing the LiteOn drive. Some manufactures use OEM connectors for example, in which case would require some wiring alterations. I just didn't know.

As far as the "fit" ... I'll make it work. That's not a problem.

WoW! I just saved about $260!
Thanks guys!
