wow! 14 and she has a voice that is already so sweet. Kudos!!Very impressive. Overall, the instrumentation, songwriting is excellent. You guys wrote a great song.
One thing I didn't like was the eq on the main vocal. Very muddy. A few of the frequencies have to be changed. It's not clear enough. You mentioned the pronunciation, but it could be helped by eqing.
 
Not sure really, don't follow the femal vocalists that much, but sounds like somthing from the modern rock station, like Sheryl Crow or somthing.

Great job Chris. The vocals are awesome. The drums could come up a tad at the end, I thought. Very nice piece.

guttadaj - Yeah, I agree about the drums. I'm gonna' bring them up. They were donated by a guy named "mallcore" btw...I think he's probably used to doing heavier stuff, so I was grateful to him.

yorgo - thanks for listening. Yeah, I may have overdone it on the mid scoop on her vocal. I tried to hit a spot where it could be heard, but didn't peel my eyebrows off, lol. Thanks for the input.

Pahtcub - thanks for the followup. Yeah, that was why I asked - some people have mentioned S.C. before. Her voice is kinda' changing right now...it'll probably end up lower than mine, lol. Again, thanks.

it does sound a little like sheryl crow.......i think it's better than s.c's though....there's just something i dont like about her voice or the way she sings or whatever.........but i really like your daughters voice.
 
Oh shit! Wow, Chris, family and collborators. Impressive. Just beautiful. Some minor timing inconsistancies (for perfection's sake). Need the bass up front more. Drums out a little more in front as well, and I need to hear the individual components of that drum kit a little more. Cymbals especially sound a bit "in the back" and slightly fuzzy on the soundstage. Vocals are recorded very airy and clear but I wouldnt hesitate to add even more air. Man, those strings just fold in this piece like a ham in a sandwitch...perfect. Only problem I can hear in the backing vocals is that in only SOME backing vocal notes, I am hearing a bit-o-mud. I would parametrically EQ those notes that may be competing for the same sonic real estate with the leads freq's. Perhaps a little compensatory equalization, eh? Fucking impressive. I hate you. Usually when I listen to something for the first time, I purposely start picking apart the production. Even more so here, when someone is asking for people to pick it apart.
Very rarely do I get lost in a song and forget about the production. I think that is the ultimate.
If they're still doing American Idol in 2 or 3 years, do whatever you can to get her in to audition. I'd say do it right now, but it'd be WAY too much for a 14 year old.

This wins my own personal Turn It Up award for the night, the first MP3 that actually made me crank up the speaker volume and sit back.

Your daughter is only 14?? She shows a serious mastery of not only the notes but the lyrical content. I swear this could have been a 30-something singer. Very mature.

And it's songs and recordings like these that really make me feel that, depsite all my attempts at recording and writing, that I will always remain just a fan.

And that's fine by me if stuff like this is out there to listen to.
