awesome

I like it, rock on dude and yea computer speakers are the killers of good music. I wish I could write lyrics.

great song...really ...great sound ..great lyrics ...the "whole nine yards"..so to speak....this is the first of yer songs ive heard i say "first " because now im gonna listen to the rest...

thanks
jamal

oh my god....
i just listened to "hi-ho stereo"......thats my new favorite song btw.....what the hell is that voice-effect thing in the middle....you know the one THAT IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.....yeah that one?..can you divulge the secret ....as i wll never be able to duplicate it with my sparkomatic gear ..you shouldnt have any worries...lol........great song ..

thanks
jamal

another great song man, i really like your sound, and your songs are deifentaly unique. could you divulge some of your recording gear, etc.

"Livin' is Easy"...

All the tracks sound really good, especially the guitars. The vocals are great and the big backing vocals really work well for me, thanks to the panning. My only crit would be that I lost the lead vocals a bit at times. The lyrics are so good that I don't want to miss them.

Songwriting (I know you didn't ask for a critique)...

You are a mad genius. I love the irony: happy music, disturbing lyrics. Whatever you're on, get a refill and keep it coming. You're a hell of a singer and guitar player.

Thanks for sharing.

Jon

ps, I'm listening to HI HO right now- I agree with Jamal- fucking awesome. What a lyric- "Hi Ho my stereo oh" Damn. Did you use one of those wah envelope boxes on your voice in the bridge? I love this song- disillusioned pop masterpiece. You've got your own folder on my computer now. 5 stars.

pss, downloading the rest.

Beta Blocker made me want to see a psychiatrist.

More please.

Jon

Man, it's good to see people checking out your other tunes, as well as the current submission.

I think you're immensely talented, but you already (should) know that, so I'll reserve the remainder of my comments for "Living Is Easy."

"she was a fraudville..."
"chip off the old foster block"

I love your writing so much, it physically hurts. :D

I'm getting some weird encoding noise or something, and I could use some more highs.

Now, this next comment will be either really funny or really insulting. Are you going for the "lo fi" vibe on this tune? I think you are, and if that's the case, then PERFECT. If you're NOT going for that, then we can pick this discussion up later.

Thanks for these...downloading new one for keeper.
Chris

STRIKE THAT

Man, ignore my earlier comments about the "lo fi" thing. I downloaded it. It's fucking great.

Ignore me...

cat + eggs = good.

Excellent, as usual. Your writing is superb, and your singing and playing are pretty damn good.

Criticisms? All I can come up with is that the acoustic guitar is slightly boomy - a wee bit of EQ would help. I'm assuming the vocals from 2:17 on are meant to be slightly buried?

I'll be buying your album when it appears in the shops.

"Plus, I copyrighted them to prevent the beach boys from releasing another reunion album. "

haha...that's awesome.

i listened to "hi ho stereo first", love it. now gonna listen to living is easy...

the mix isn't quite a clear as hi ho stereo....but the performance is great...i love "all the tiiiimeeee....wooo!"

great stuff.

ever listen to The Moldy Peaches?

WOW

Fuckin Hilarious !!!!!

The Violent Femmes WISH they had your talent!
Keep it up!

Joel:p

thanks for listening.

jamal buchet: i made that voice effect with the auto-tune plugin and a couple of otherwise embarrassing vocal tracks. (RE: hi ho stereo)

synergy: thanks. my gear list is this: 1) sm58 microphone, 2) cooledit and a bunch of computer stuff. if you want some specifics, i'll itemize.

jjtcorsair: i think voices and guitars are so hard to record. i'm screwing around with some old fashioned ideas taken from this board. hopefully they will give the vocals some room. we'll see. you bring my casual fan total up to 2.

chrisharris: i can't say that i was shooting for the lo-fi sound, but i know what you mean. you retracted the statement, but i think it's a valid observation. my "accross-the-board" EQing techniques fall short, to be sure. thanks for always checking out my posts. i look forward to your opinions.

alibish & wes480: boomy/unclear -- i agree. i tried finding the best sound between my monitors and computer speakers. this is the settlement. other people make songs that sound great on any system, and that pisses me off.... see also: my current recording predicament.

dmoney4life: to clarify; i only use my monitors for recording. i use regular computer speakers to listen to computer noises.

complimenters: thanks!

any specific improvement ideas would be helpful.

Please tell me your close to signing a contract and I'll be hearing you on KWtop40. This song WORKS. The guitar may not be as clear and crisp as a nice condenser would make it but who cares! It fits in this song like a glove. Its inventive and fun with some disturbing lyrics. You could sell this now as is. Great job.

Layth

PS know any great fiddlers? that would really work in parts of this song.

sm58 - I got one

cooledit - I use that

"bunch of computer stuff" - Okay, this HAS to be the reason your recordings are so much better than mine. I'm not flattering you here, I just know the difference between "competent" and "damned good." Please itemize. You don't have to explain what the individual components do, I can look them up. I know you post your tunes to get help, but you seem to be willing to offer help, as well, which is very cool...so I'm officially asking. Believe me, if I thought for one second that I could help you, I'd try. I can't.

For the record, I think the quality of your recordings is not a consequence of "computer stuff," but rather, of good recording technique...so I'm not really expecting your "computer stuff" to save my recordings...I'm just curious.

:D

........cat-eggs....... ......a bit of feline testicular humor?...... .....on to a listen.............
Ahhhhh..... a pixies fan like myself? Listening to Living is easy, and waiting for Frank Black to bust out a loud "its educational". I too, get a little violent femmes vibe as well (as per jcmm).
I dig this stuff alot man......waaaaaaaaaaaaay cool. Very nice recording, and very well performed. I love this song, and it will be getting alot of play on my little song player thingy.

One BIG ASS thumbs up!!!! .....and 5 stars to boot:D
