I'm looking at spending up to 300 CND. Here is a list of some things I'd like it to have, in order of "need it" to "don't even know it some cards have it". Thanks for any sugestions.

-Will give me sound quality worth what I pay for it

-I need the card to have a breakout box that I can use as my primary interface for mics, etc. I don't have, and cant afford, a mixer so i'll be plugging in 1/4" mics, at least 1 jack or 2 would be even better.

-ASIO 2.0 drivers

-pci interface---not usb

-full duplex support

-MIDI i/o

-+48 phantom power to 1/4" jack

What? 48 volt Phantom power over TRS? Huh?

The Egosys (ESI-pro) Waveterminal 192M for not quite 200 USD might do the trick...and it does provide a breakout box packed with TRS (balanced 1/4")jacks and can power mic... (I think it's 9 or 12 volt? Perfectly fine for electret condensers...) Solid drivers. I did hear one review that was talking about how the stereo crosstalk wasn't as good as compared to other cards, but still very good...

well i've looked around and nothing seemed to have the features i wanted in my price range, except the sb audigy zs 2 platinum, which from what i hear is awful for recording

192M is the only one I can think of. The majority of sound cards in your price range are not going to include mic preamps on a breakout box. Actually, make that pretty much all.

I still don't get why you want phantom power on a 1/4".

EDIT: Looks like I messed up in my first post here. The line ins and outs on the 192M are unbalanced.

The M-Audio Delta 1010lt would probably have the closest fit with your needs.
It has 2 inbuilt preamps on XLR jacks. 6 other inputs on RCA jacks, but you can use 1/4" to RCA converter plugs.
Has midi & s/pdif.
It uses breakout cables instead of a breakout box.
$280, or there's a 'Blem' version for $224, whatever the hell Blem means
