Um, yes.
I mean, I'm sorry Webcyan, but is nobody else allowed to have advice that doesn't mesh with yours? Does that make you angry and prompt extreme rudeness? Well, boo hoo! No need to be rude about it. We're all friends here, supposedly. But when people here are rude, it makes me not want to post anymore, which is why a few of us old-timers have stayed away from the site for so long. And wouldn't-cha know, the second I try to be helpful after a 6-month hiatus, some whipper-snapper comes around and tries to shoot me down. Crazy kids. Hell, I've been on this board so long that I'm even on the Comp CD!!!! Now that's old!
Anyway, if you do the screaming thing right, there is no throat damage at all. If you actually READ the post, you'd notice that I said that if your throat feels raw or hurts at all, you're doing it wrong.
In all, if anyone here is seriously, majorly concerned about damaging your throat, then perhaps it would be best to spend a little money for a vocal coach, instead of listening to what is ultimately highly subjective advice (since I'm sure we all have very different physical attributes, and thus will all necessarily have different ways of singing).
