i have about a few sets of speakers that i use for mixing down and the set with the most detail is my LX5 by linium my only concern is allthough acoustic music sounds first rate on these babies my mixes may not be right on. the woofers are 5 inches and roll off at about 90hz and 360 degrees out of the high frequency linium drivers they are exelent for sitting close to a workstation . i cant change any settings without being close to my mouse. and for nearfield monitoring these give me a good soundfield at two feet away and listning to music the responce curve is also as flat as the state of kansas.
my question is they are reasonably good for speakers but the monitor question remains. is flat response the most impotant thing.
i havent seen another design like them will they be good monitors.

Everyone has there opinions and favorites where monitors are concerned. IMHO, speakers intended for home stereo listening are a poor choice for near field monitors because they are usually hyped in their response at the high and low end of the spectrum BUT, if you can train your ears to listen "thru" the monitors you have, you can mix on just about anything. Audition your mixes on as many different systems as possible so you can determine how your monitors are behaving. Once you get that down you have a better chance of your mixes translating well to most playback situations.
