sjonesmusic: yeah that was meant as a response to the negative blanket statement by the toker which you quoted in your response and I connected to your links by mistake.
I guess I missunderstood who posted those links, this quoting a quote stuff gets gets quoted too often, especially during a 3am reply.

Scottjones:One thing stands, YOUR still a very good player whoever you are and whatever your opinion whether you agree with me or not.:D :D :D

Duh: I thought Toker was an unwise username for someone who works for and then links to a music ministry!

Peace My brother Scott

I guess there are no "Tokers" in the industry? You honestly think that with songs like "Snorting Whiskey and Drinking cocaine", or "She Fucking Hates Me" that there are any bible thumping, do right people in high places in the music industry that have enough morals to care if your name has a drug reference? Duh. Damn good thing Madona always did the right thing. Damn good thing "My Hash Pipe" doesn't have any drug reference. People in the industry might have never given it a chance, huh?

Not that I need to explain to anyone, but...the name Toker was with me since I was a tot, and has nothing to do with any drug reference. Secondly, if I called my self "Budman", or "Millerlightguy" that would be acceptable? I could get into a long debate about how alcohol does far more damage to the body, and how there are far, far, far more driving deaths related to alcohol, and how most blindly lead sheep don't even know why the other is illegal anyway...but this is not the place for it. Just have a nice day....I'm tired of defending myself.

Toker: Not at all! It is a reality that in certain circles some references are not acceptable. Theres a proper time and place for most things. In my response to Sjones I was simply stating that a username of Toker seemed innapproriate and as it turns out, it was my own confusion which led me to think that You where in the music ministry.
I hope you have a great day
There was no condescending intent meant to you.
There is no defense needed either.
I do not condemn your opinion or your right to express it in whatever manner you desire in this forum.
Personally I don't usually use expressions of vulgarity in a public forum because That is what I choose to do. I believe it says something about who I am. We are probably not the same kind of people, but doesnt that add to ability to see a wider range of views and thereby grow?
Hey , I dont like Rap or Opera! I would even say they suck. IMHO
But , I would not go to a lover of either and say they are wrong to like them.
If you do decide to get a PoD for direct recording you may begin to share my appreciation for the whole modeled amp emulation movement.
Please dont take this stuff so personal, because I have no clue who you actually are, and only dissagree with your opinion on the line 6 statement you made.

Peace to you
Bill

Sorry, I'm on the edge....hehe. I've had to explain my name so many times, that I just jump on the soapbox everytime it comes up anymore. I thought you where talking music "industry", I didn't realize you were talking music "ministry"...my bad. Kinda funny, though...the guy that gave me the name Toker was a preist...hehe..a friend of the family. He use to call me Joker, but I was just a baby and what came out of my mouth was "Toka", so he started calling me Toker....and it stuck ever since. It's funny, most people that call me that don't even know what a "Toker" is. Wonder why he didn't call me "Toga". Would have taken up a lot less time in my life explaining that one.
No hard feelings here, and I hope none there. I just like a little bite in the debates I take part in sometimes. PEACE...

Damn good thing "My Hash Pipe" doesn't have any drug reference. People in the industry might have never given it a chance, huh?
Well, there's a good example right there. Weezer uses Pod Pros as their live guitar rig... not to reopen a bottle of worms...

RELAX EVERYONE...

Hey Toker, i'll make sure that the next tune i post in the clinic is technicaly proficient, has lots of soloing...just to demonstrate my know-how on the guitar, nah i don't think so. If you were offended by my comments i am sorry, but i do feel if you are getting crap sounds out of these amps, there must be crap going in to it. My opinion...the statement wasn't aimed at you in particular, but if you want to take it that way fine. I really don't care. When you mentioned you haven't heard a lick from me i assume you meant a solo, because if you look up my name i have posted numerous times here. But i don't think that my music has any guitar solo's. Not because of inablility to play them but because if i want to jerk off i will go get some vaseline. I am not really big in the look at me i am the lead guy type shit. But i'll see if i can come up with something worthy of such an esteemed home recordist as yourself...i thought a newbie would be indicated by a little "title" by an avatar, but i guess i am just a newbie mentally. I love it when people get all bent out of shape over such trivial bullshit. I'm sure your guitars all sound really great. I don't own a guitar over 500 bucks...so what the fuck do i know anyway. Line 6 must make their shitty amps only sound good when you play shitty guitars through them. i don't know. People around this fucking place need to lighten up a little, everyone is so fucking uptight, and everyone grows king kong balls when they can hide behind the anonimity of the net. My name is

Boy i sound like an ass! I am kind of an ass in real life so i guess this posting is an accurate representation of how i am. In retrospect maybe i shouldn't have said what i said, but it's done and all i can do is go with it and let that shit snowball...Honestly i love everyone here, not exclusively the nice guys. i also like the arrogant, ranting, mindless, cocksuckers who are internet toughguys and nothing more. Variety is the spice of life. I am 22 so i guess i am a bit immature, but what can i do you know. I'm young, i'll learn. No seriously...buy Line 6. Lets end all of the hate and talk about how the Whitestripes are an abomination on the music industy.

I thought I was the only one who didn't like the line6 amps. A friend was gonna sell me his Flextone combo. It's not that it's a bad amp...it just didn't do it for me. It didn't make me go "I gotta have this."

I'm sure it does an admirable job of emulating other amps...but I thought it didn't really let the personality of the guitar really come through.

I didn't get to play, but heard someone playing a nice strat through one of the CyberTwins amps on a tweed-like setting. Wow. Quite amazing. It had that studio-polished, mic'd sound - but not at all digital or lacking. Sounded world-class to me.

I have an upgraded V-Amp and Sansamp unit now that I'm using.
The V-Amp doesn't really seem to be accurate sounding, but it's more "up front" sounding compared to the Line6 stuff.

To say "if you don't like the amp you can't play guitar or your guitar sucks ass" is the statement of an asswipe. As is "come find me and say that" But I expect nothing more from some kids. :o
And the songs you post are not a good arguement to your case that the line6 sounds good.
BTW being a "good" guitar player means more than being able to "solo".
And make up your mind...
...are you sorry, or do you not care?
Nevermind....seems I don't really care.

I just had to Comment on the original question asked and then some.

How do Line6 Amps compare to the POD ...actually they compare pretty well the POD 2.0 is closest to Flextone II Amps and PODXT closest to Vetta, DUO Verbs and New Flextone III.

Better off Buying POD and separate Amp depends on what you are trying to accomplish. For direct recoding the POD is great and if you are trying to get the same tones live as you record direct, then you may want to consider a Line 6 amp for Both. But neither option is a bad choice depending on the funds you have available.

For Myself I own and LOVE all my Line 6 Stuff and use it daily without problem so far. I have a POD 2.0, a Bass POD, A Flextone II HD, a Line 6 4x12 slant cabinet (412S) and a floorboard. Before I bought the FlexII HD and Cab I played several Marshalls and Mesa Dual Rectifier Head, Flextone IIXL 2x12 and a few others. In
the end the Marshall, The Boogie and the Flextone II HD and 412S Cab were the final ones in contention and I choose the FlexII HD and Cab, Why? For me the flexibility and tonal combinations it offered out weighed everything else for me. I loved the Boogie and the Marshall but neither offered IMHO the flexibility that FLexII HD did. When I played the FlexII HD with the 4x12 cab it sounded exactly like what I was hearing coming into my headphones from the POD, and it just blew me away and still does to this day. I also want to be able to reproduce the same tones live that I was multitracking in my recording setup.

I will be honest though I played the flextone II XL and considered it for half the price and liked the it, but IMHO the FLextone II HD and Cab just sounded so much better to my ears and much closer to the way the Pod with Phones or direct into my board sounded. To me it just has a lot more balls.

I want to be clear this is not a knock at the Marshall or Mesa Amps they are great AMPS as well and probably better for clean tones to a degree, but neither gave me the tone flexibility Line 6 did. The Vetta HD was also just out when I bought by Flex II HD and I choose the Flex II HD over that just because I knew the way the POD sounded and loved it, and at the time was able to reproduce those same tones with the FlexII HD live much easier the with the Vetta, I am sure familiarity of how to dial in tones helped. The Vetta and POd XT do have some very cool features as well over and above the POD and Flex II amps but not necessarily the same tones.

And finally if you will to spend the timeexperimenting with the Line 6 amps (I personally don't care for many pre-sets) and aren't afraid to turn some knobs you can get incredible guitar tones and with my setup also at real loud volumes. I have had a plenty of people who have heard me play thru my AMP who are just blown away by the tones and number of great sounding AMP tones I can create with the thing. I for one feel Line 6 makes a great product that sounds great and is extremely versatile, especially if you are using them to record and have the need for lots of different guitar tones.

I think the best part of this whole thread was Toker (currently at post count 261) called AnalyticalMan (current post count 243) a "fucking newbie" , when Toker has posted 10 times in this thread alone, which almost accounts for any difference ....

CSTOCKDALE-That was pretty funny, i thought myself! i JUST FUCK AROUND ALOT, SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE ME. I now have almost broke the newbie barrier with this post...almost!! HEHEHEHEHEH!!!!

Not to mention, the guy had newbie status when he did the first reply.

NOW DIE THREAD, DIE ALREADY!

I heard the 2x12 combo and it wasnt too bad. You might get more flexibility with the combination of another amp and a pod. On the other hand they might have the amp emulation tuned better on their own combos.

You can also just run a POD thru a good power amp and PA speaker and get some good tones.

Alchuck - you can turn off the mic/speaker emulation and just get the amp sound you want.

I would like to recant this earlier statement. After playing with the POD for awhile it is now collecting dust. I even tried to use it in an effects loop with my Marshall and it still sucked.

Everytime I hear a really thin live guitar tone it is always a Line 6. If your guitar tone has too much energy or character then maybe you need some Line 6 stuff to suck the life out of it.
