line outs

sorry this is a stupid question, i know (hey im just a little kid)

i just got a tascam porta02, and have been connecting the LINE OUT of my Marshall amp
directly to the mic inputs. it seems to have great quality this way and to work fine, but
ive been getting the impression that this does'nt work well, and that you need a direct
box or some crap like that.... is it really worth it? should i just get a good mic and mic the
guitar amps from now on?

Get a mic. I find the line outs on Marshall's (as with most amps) sounds like shit anyway. Does the porta2 have XLR connectors? A good mic for guitar amps is..... The SM57. Cheap as well.

you will get far more versatility if you mic the amp. But if you like the currant sound then who is to judge?
