Line-in plays through one speaker only

Hi all
I'm playing my guitar through a Zoom 505II fx unit which is plugged into my PC's line-in jack.
Standard sound card with Realtek drivers. Playback through 2.1 Creative speakers.
Record with Mixcraft 5.

The problem is that one day the right speaker stopped producing sound. The sub and left speaker is still fine and when I play music through winamp, all the speakers work.
I've tested all the components individually and there is no problem with any of them.

I'm still very new to this so I have NO IDEA what could be wrong. I've reinstalled my audio drivers but no success. Is this because my guitar produces a mono signal and my software is expecting stereo? Can I force the line-in device to expect a mono signal?

I realise I may not have provided enough info here to make a diagnosis so please ask me more questions and I'll clarify.

Thanks so much.

Are you using a stereo patch cord and adapter down to the 1/8" line-in on your computer? If you are using a mono (2 conductor) cable or adapter/plug, you're only sending signal to 1 side.

Not the software dude, more likely the PC has a stereo input and you're sending mono, like mjb sez...

Hi guys - thanks for getting back to me :)
I'm using a standard guitar cable plugged into 1/8" adapter. The adapter has two black 'ribbons' on the prong so that means it's stereo right?
Would this problem be resolved if I used a mono adapter?

yes ..... th guitar cord is mono so when it goes into that 1/8/stereo adapter ..... it only contacts one of the sides.
get a mono to stereo adapter to go into the 1/8 adapter or use it to go directly into the interface if it's an 1/8th size..
