Limiting Master Channel

I'm mixing live material through a Mackie VLZ Pro 1202 and it is being recorded a cassette deck. How would I use a limiter to control the peaks of the master channel going into the cassette deck.

Does the VLZ pro have built in effects? If not, you'll need a hardware limiter. Run the outputs of your mixer through your limiter and then on to the cassette deck.

as long as your level is hot enough, the peaks will be reduced by the tape anyway.
