Lastly ......... the only important thing is the music that results ........... whatever works for you is fine ......... there are no absolutes in this art form and what's a neccessity for one person might not be so important for someone else. It's supposed to be fun and creative ...... it's not a situation where someone is stupid because they don't just accept that your way and only your way is the right way to do it.

Well, no argument there. But there are certain guidelines that are followed for a reason. Part of the purpose of boards like this is that we can clue each other into things we've learned.

One thing I've learned is that there are, in fact, "truths" in recording. One of them is that if you're interested in getting your recordings above a very basic level, you gotta learn about EQ, Compression, verb, etc. It's really not a very contraversial thing to say, for chrissake.

The whole "loudness wars"/overcompression trend is a whole other thing and has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. And sure, you can do great tunes without a computer. Duh! But if you're on a low budget and have no hardware, computers are kinda the obvious way to go.

But of course it depends on how far you're interested in going with it. But It really has nothing to do about "who's right and who's wrong". It's just about exchanging information. As I said, take it or leave it.

you know whats going on,,,,,,,

you can only give good advice like you have, up to others to listen....

no effects hahahhhhahhhhhhhhahhahaahaahhh

sorry.....

wait till they ask why the volume on there cd is so low compared to a commercial cd.....(compressors, limitors...)

can you imagine trying to get instrument to sit in the proper space of a mix with out eq, almost as bad as keeping the panning centered on everything

like i said i have a full pa rack of outboard gear, i use it recording, but not that much, eq compressor, deessor, all on pc

can you imagine brittnny spears or cher trying to sing with out anters autotune, neither one of them can carry a tune in a bucket, you can hear the auto tune in the music....

This is all very interesting, but there's no more buttons under our posts to direct us to a link to our music. (We have to put it into our signatures now.)

So what I'm saying is how about some examples to put behind our theories of how much better stuff sounds one way or the other, please.
