Wtf is a PRS
Ok so i got ezdrummer.

So say i plop one of those canned tracks in to my jam.

So i see the the little block with all the dots or 'notes'(?) onto 'er.

So i double click onto 'er and up she comes the 'midi editor'?! i guess is what its called.

In here i have messed around a little but having 0 midi experience up until now i don't know whats what.

For instance, I'll use the snare 'dots' notes i for my example, I notcied that for some reason i can pull the side of it out?

why?

I know i have figured out that slding stuff up and down controls the velocity...

but why left to right? WTF?

And also i only discovered that when i tried to add a new note. or stick a new snare note in there it sometimes pops down the piano roll a few keys?

WTF?

and also for some reason does not come in looking like the rest of the 'canned notes'

Visually speaking of course. It comes in as long as the measure or inbetween the lines on the grid.

I see i can use the L/R sider and make it small, but

why the hell does it do this....

I have tonnes more questions, so if someone rather then answering my questions has some kind of newbie tutorial that will explain all this to me that would be just as welcome....

Thanks.....

I don't have any tutorials, but check toontrack's website, they did at one time.

"Pulling the side out" in midi makes the note duration longer. That works for other instruments like the piano, but a drum hit is just one hit, so the note duration doesn't make much of a difference. There might be the case where the hihat stays open for that duration, but I haven't experimented with that. Moving the note left or right changes where the drum hit takes place in the measure.

When you add new notes, not sure why they don't show up where you place them. I use a piano roll style editor, so may not be seeing the same thing as you. btw, what DAW are you using? As for default duration, you can probably find a preference setting to change the default to say 1/4 note or something convenient for you.

Hope this helps. Ask more if you need. :)
Peace,

What audio software are you using???

The note sizes are different because in your little MIDI app you have the note duration set for longer than the notes already programmed in EZDrummer. I don't know why the notes might jump up and down the piano roll, but if you have snap-to-grid enabled your audio sw will place the notes on the grid on whatever duration the grid is set for and not just anywhere you put them.

I definitely recommend the EZPlayerPro or whatever they call it---- it's $50. They also have a freeware app called Toontrack Solo that is a standalone player so you can compose loops and save the files without opening your DAW software.

Allows you to audition the loops, mix-and-match loops with different time signatures and play them all simultaneously and in time. And you can scroll up and down with different configs of drums/cymbals/whatever by clicking key offset. Oh, and you can easily add accent notes too as it has a special little app dedicated to just that.

Also, check out the tutorials on Youtube or at Toontracks site.

Last, you gotta buy some of the expansion packs. The Vintage one is pretty good, and so is the Funkmasters. Check out Groove Monkee for more loops, you can even download 500 free samples that are already mapped to EZDrummer.

Im using Reaper... so i guess it would be what ever default editor it is set up with..?
