although I do think that even YouTube (which isn't bad with 1080p video) mangles (a bit of limiting going on) the audio a bit... compared to the 48/24 original WAV
I suppose that's inevitable?

I hate the poor quality of SoundCloud so I guess I've always focussed on YouTube, I didn't think people would download 48/24 WAVs but maybe you guys would! ...

you can enable downloads at SoundCloud which may be what you’re referring to. Not everyone would bother of course. You might just bounce out to 320k MP3 and attach it here. I only upload 320k MP3s to SC and they don’t tend to mangle those any worse, and perhaps less, than non-lossy stuff. (For video I still bounce to 48k/16 actually.)
